Solar Rooftop Power Generation

It is a mechanism which allows the consumer to generate their own electricity using solar panels or photovoltaic systems and export their surplus energy back to the ESCOM grid.

This system is connected to the main utility grid and incorporates the policy of net metering. The process of net metering provides system owners with the opportunity to consume the power generated by solar and gain extra revenue by selling their excess power to the grid.

If the amount of energy generated is more than the amount of energy consumed, then the owner gets compensated for the excess amount.

This mechanism is independent of grid supply. Solar power generated is pumped into battery storage on first preference. Once the battery storage is full, the solar power is directly utilized by the loads connected to the system.

This system works even when Power Supply is not there from the grid. Loads can utilize the solar power to the full extent directly and from battery when solar power or grid power is not available.

This mechanism is combination of Ongrid and Off grid system. Solar Power and battery storage can be utilized to full extent and even solar power can be exported to the grid under Net metering mechanism.
